what a recession?

The Government has decided to give a further hike in salary and allowances to around 4 Lakh officers of central public sector enterprises over and above the hikes announced last year.

At a cabinet presided by Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, the decision to improve the salary structure of officers at board level and below, along with supervisory staff was taken.

The pay packages will also include increase in house rent allowance and retirement benefits.

The hikes are based on the recommendations of the committee of ministers headed by Home Minister P Chidambaram.

This suggests that PSUs are not affected by prevailing recession. All other giants are either at the stage of bankruptcy or have to reduce the staff and / or their salaries.

The bonus given to AIG's officers is the same, but they had to return the bonus. In India, they will take the increased salary at home. And the bonus was one time expenses, the salary is paid every month.
